VisionCare

Visioncare is a start-up that developed an implant technology that gives back the sight for age-

related macular degeneration (AMD), or Late-Stage AMD.

They achieved fast implementation with minimum healing time by using a small lens implant

with integral hinges.

Our part of the design was to develop a quick charging device that inserts the lens inside the syringe

that implants the lens in place.

It has two safety locks that help the surgeon operate intuitively without getting confused.

Visioncare is the first and only FDA-approved implantable medical device demonstrated to

improve vision and quality of life in qualified individuals with the most advanced,

irreversible form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), or Late-Stage AMD.

The new smaller incision implantable miniature telescope can be implanted through a 6.5mm incision and with the aid of the Tsert-SI delivery system will be much easier to use. The system is progressing through verification and validation testing, and after a short field trial could be available in the EU spring of 2020. Early data from clinical studies of patients implanted with the new smaller incision telescope has demonstrated excellent results.
